Description.
In 2016, we undertook the structural reinforcement of a large seaside residence in Mykonos, aiming to enhance its seismic performance and ensure the building’s long-term durability.
[ LVR DEVELOPMENT ]
The methodology applied included:
Reinforcement of the load-bearing structure with reinforced concrete jackets, by adding new reinforcement bars and concrete around the existing columns and beams.
Use of steel plates (metal sheets) as a permanent steel formwork, contributing to the formation of the new jackets and increasing the overall stiffness of the structure.
Connection of new and existing structural elements using special anchoring systems to achieve full cooperation and homogeneity within the construction.
Parallel restoration works on the façades, carried out with respect for the traditional Cycladic architecture and the local materials — white plaster, blue frames, and stone.
The project was delivered in full compliance with seismic regulations and with a strong emphasis on aesthetic integrity, demonstrating our expertise in complex structural reinforcement works within demanding environments such as island residential complexes.
